How we govern

Bound by a constitution, run by a code.

The council's authority is drawn from the objects of its constitution. Everything ICZ does in members' name traces back to three purposes and a single code of conduct.

Protect and advance the industry. Promote and advance the common interests of underwriters across all classes of non-life insurance, including concerted measures when members' business is affected by any authority.
Promote cooperation between members. Foster coherence and co-operation between members, and provide the machinery to reconcile differences.
Advance non-life insurance overall. Do all things necessary, proper and advisable for the general advancement of the non-life insurance business.

Passion for excellence

The conduct every member signs up to. The code holds members to the law, to each other and to the insuring public.

Standing committees

Twelve committees, one council.

The work of ICZ runs through twelve standing committees, each owning a slice of the mandate: the shared pools, the bureaus, compliance, technical standards, and the industry's relationships with its people and regulators.
